Koza Gold Analysis Laboratory has been in operation since 1st January, 2006. Our team consisting of eleven employees has been conducting gold, silver, multiple elements analysis actively in ore and liquid; gold, silver analysis in dore and cyanide analysis. Our laboratory has 4 main sections, which are sample preparation, analytical, instrumental and fire analysis.
At sample preparation section, received ore samples are furnaced, dried and crushed into desired sizes in the jaw crusher then go through sample separator and separated parts are pulverized by ring mill pulverizer, bar coded and sent to weighting section. Pulverized samples are blended and weighted in required amounts for analysis to be sent to Analytical Section for dissolution.
The samples weighted at Analytical Section are dissolved by acid-dissolving method and other necessary instrument reading processes are completed. Additionally, other preliminary procedure required for cyanide and other assays are conducted at Analytical Section.
There are 2 Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), 1 Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP) and 1 UV-VIS Spectrometer at Instrumental Assay Section. Solid/liquid Gold and silver assays are conducted with Atomic Absorption Spectrometer. Multiple elements analyses are done with Optical Emission Spectrometer and Cyanide analysis in liquid carried out with UV-VIS Spectrometer instrument.
Fire Assay method, which is a different gold analysis method is also used in our laboratory. There are 1 cupellation furnace and 1 fire assay furnace at fire Assay Section. Cupellation furnace is also used for gold and silver assay in dore.
Process of all acidification and dissolving is conducted fume cabinet. Fume cabinet funnel is attached to acid tower. Acidification is dropped by spraying at acid tower. PH value of solution used in spraying at acid tower has been checked during the day and any changes are quickly responded. On the other hand, liquid wastes formed at Analytical Section are stored in waste storage built in concrete pool to be then discharged to plant’s detox tank. Chemical liquid wastes and empty chemical bins/bottles are sent to the firms to be destroyed.
Turkey’s First Accredited Gold Analysis Laboratory is in Ovacik…
World Trade Organization (WTO) asks member countries to ensure maintaining the process of their compliance assessment, technical competencies and transparencies. Therefore, approval by a specialized independent authority of the laboratories engaged with assessment of compliance assures integrity of test and analysis reports. A laboratory can only be deemed to be ready for an accreditation by fully complying with the Standard no TSE EN ISO 17025 and additional criteria.
Koza Gold Operations, which has been operating since 01. January 2006 lodged its application with TURKAK for accreditation of Analysis Laboratory at Ovacik Gold Mine in 2007 and continued its efforts for two years to fulfill technical and general requirements as specified by Standard TSE EN ISO 17025.
Firstly, analyses to be included into the accreditation were defined. Personnel have been provided with necessary trainings enabling them to accurately and reliably conduct these analyses and to attain the competency by analysis-related method validation works.
General documentations, which also included procedures, instructions and forms were prepared in pursuant to the general requirements of TS EN ISO 17025 standard, All completed documents and records attached with application file for accreditation were submitted to TURKAK in May, 2008. Having sighted and assessed the application, TURKAK considered that there had been no issues hampering the progress of application and decided to visit site laboratory for inspection on 25/26 May, 2009.
Following completion of site inspection, Ovacik Gold Mine Analysis Laboratory was accredited for “Gold in Ore” and “WAD-Cyanide Total in Liquid” analyses with Accreditation number “AB-0268-T”. Our laboratory team that comprises 2 senior chemical engineers, 3 chemists and 6 laboratory technicians aims to achieve wide range of accreditations for various types of analyses.
Our laboratory consists of 4 main sections, which are sample preparation, analytical analysis, instrument analysis, and fire analysis. Our laboratory handles the analysis of gold and silver in ore, multi element analysis, analysis of gold and silver in dore and cyanide analysis.
