OVACIK GOLD MINE

General
Ovacık Gold Mine situated near the village of Ovacik between Bergama and Dikili on the north of Izmir is Koza Gold’s first gold mine.

Operation
In May 2001, Eurogold has poured its first gold at Ovacik Gold Mine.  Koza Gold Operations Inc has acquired the mine in 2005 to operate first domestic gold mine in Turkey

Geology
Mineralization at Ovacik Gold Mine is a vein type and low sulphidation epithermal deposit. There are three main ore veins known as M,S, and Z.

Production
Open Pit
Production in open pit has first commenced in 1997 but due to several reasons, there were some interruptions in the years followed and finally it was completed in 2007.

Underground
Underground mining currently continues. Average of 160 thousand tonnes of ore produced from M and S veins using Cut and Fill method. Reinforcement is done by applying shotcrete and rock bolts.

Plant
Ore is processed at Ovacik plant with tank leach method to produce gold. Ore is grinded in ball and rod mills and fed into leach tanks. Ore received from Ovacik underground as well as nearby mine sites are processed. Gold is poured once a week at the plant, which has average feeding capacity of  100 tonnes /h.
